And that’s a wrap on sophomore year! Overall I had a great spring semester back in Boston with friends and my love for the city (and the North End) has grown even stronger.
To celebrate, my dad and I packed up the car and went to the North End. We wound up at Strega on Hanover. It was around 4pm when we finally got to the restaurant, so we were the only ones inside. It was so beautiful and reminded me of the Great Gatsby with the gold, black and chandeliers. Not only were the decorations gorgeous, the food was also amazing.
The bread was so fresh and the olive oil–wow! I think it’s the best I have had since my birthday when I went on a Vespa tour through Chianti and tried wine and olive oil (Oh the days).
I ordered the Fettuccine Strega, which is jumbo shrimp, deep sea scallops, and baby spinach in a creamy ‘strega’ sauce. It has been one of my favorite dishes thus far with everything tasting so fresh and oh so delicious. It was a nice change from a typical seafood dish as it was creamy, and the shrimp and scallops were cooked to perfection.
My dad ordered the Bucatini all’ Amatricana which was fresh pasta sautéed with pancetta, San Marzano tomato sauce and onions topped with pecorino and parmesan cheese. He loved it, adding it’s been one of his favorites so far.
We loved Strega and I would definitely suggest it as a place that would be great for a small group or on a date. It was a little pricey, but worth it.
